Privacy Policy
Draft (legal review recommended)
Effective: October 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how La Porte handles personal data when you use La Porte (laportecard.com), whether you are creating an invitation, or you are a guest opening one, replying to an RSVP or signing a guestbook.
Here as a guest? The couple who sent you the invitation decides which questions to ask, and can see your RSVP and guestbook messages. We store and process them only to run the service for the couple. See section 9.
1. Who we are and our role
- 1.La Porte is operated by La Porte (라포르트), a sole proprietorship registered in the Republic of Korea, represented by Minho Choi. Contact: support@laportecard.com.
- 2.For account data, payment records, support messages and site analytics, La Porte is the controller. We decide why and how this data is used.
- 3.For guest data (RSVP replies and guestbook messages) and the content of an invitation, the couple who creates the invitation decides what to collect and why. La Porte processes this data on the couple’s behalf, as a processor, to provide the service to them.
2. Data we collect
| Category | Data | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Name, email address, phone number (optional), social login identifier (Google, LINE, and Kakao or Naver for Korean users) | You, or the social login provider with your permission |
| Invitation content | Names of the couple and family members, contact numbers you choose to show, ceremony date and venue, greeting, photos, gift or registry links | You, when you build the invitation |
| RSVP replies | Guest name, side, attending or not, party size, plus-one name, meal choice, events attending, dietary needs or allergies (optional), and any other questions the couple turns on | Guests, on the invitation |
| Guestbook | Name, message, whether it is private, decoration choices (stickers, colours) | Guests, on the invitation |
| Gift drawing entries (optional) | Name, phone number, and a random token that recognises the device used to enter (only used to show the result on that device) | Guests, only when the couple runs a gift drawing and the guest chooses to enter and agrees, while leaving a guestbook note or RSVP |
| Purchases | Order ID, amount, currency, country, date, email and payment status. We do not receive your full card details. The payment reseller handles them. | Paddle.com (Merchant of Record) |
| Support | Your email address and what you write to us | You |
| Technical and usage | IP address, access logs, device and browser information, cookies, pages viewed (Google Analytics) | Collected automatically |
3. Dietary and allergy information
Dietary needs and allergies can reveal information about a guest’s health or religious beliefs, which data protection law treats as special category (sensitive) data. On La Porte these questions are always optional. We collect the answer only with the guest’s explicit consent, use it only to tell the couple, and delete it when the invitation is deleted. A guest can withdraw consent by asking the couple, or us, to remove the answer.
4. Why we use data and our legal bases
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Creating and managing your account; building, publishing and sharing your invitation | Performance of our contract with you |
| Collecting RSVP replies and guestbook messages and showing them to the couple | Performance of our contract with the couple; for guests, the couple’s legitimate interest in organising their wedding |
| Dietary needs and allergies | The guest’s explicit consent |
| Gift drawing entries: passing the name and phone number to the couple so they can contact winners | The guest’s consent, given when entering |
| Processing purchases and refunds; keeping transaction records | Contract; compliance with legal obligations (tax and consumer law) |
| Answering support requests; sending essential service messages (for example, changes to these terms) | Contract; legitimate interests |
| Keeping the service secure and preventing abuse | Legitimate interests |
| Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) to understand and improve the service | Consent where required by law (for example, in the EU and UK); otherwise legitimate interests |
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
5. Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers that help us run La Porte, under contracts that require them to protect it:
| Provider | What they do | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Oracle Cloud Infrastructure | Servers and database | Republic of Korea (Chuncheon region) |
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Photo and file storage (R2) and content delivery network | United States, with a global network |
| Google LLC | Website analytics (Google Analytics); maps (Google Maps; only the venue address is sent) | United States |
| Social login providers (Google, Kakao, Naver) | Signing you in, when you choose that option | United States / Republic of Korea |
| Paddle.com Market Ltd (Merchant of Record) | Checkout, payment processing, tax and refunds | United Kingdom |
An invitation is visible to anyone who has its link, so the information the couple puts on it can be seen by the people they share it with. We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
6. International transfers
La Porte is based in the Republic of Korea, and our main servers are there. Some providers, such as Cloudflare and Google, process data in the United States and other countries. Where data protection law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers (such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses), and you can contact us for more information.
7. How long we keep data
| Data | Kept until |
|---|---|
| Account | You delete your account |
| Invitation content | You delete the invitation or your account |
| RSVP replies and guestbook messages | The couple deletes the invitation or their account. Guest data is deleted together with the invitation |
| Gift drawing phone numbers | Deleted automatically 7 days after the wedding date (the name and the drawing result stay with the invitation until it is deleted) |
| Purchase records | As long as tax and consumer law requires (for example, 5 years under Korean e-commerce law) |
| Access logs | 3 months |
| Analytics data | The retention period set in Google Analytics |
When data is deleted, electronic files are erased so that they cannot be recovered.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ·access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- ·have inaccurate data corrected (rectification);
- ·have your data deleted (erasure);
- ·restrict how we use your data;
- ·receive your data in a portable format;
- ·object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
- ·withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing;
- ·complain to your local data protection supervisory authority.
To exercise these rights, email support@laportecard.com. We will reply within one month. If you are a guest, we may pass your request to the couple who controls the invitation, or act on their instructions.
9. Information for guests
- 1.The couple can see the RSVP replies and guestbook messages you leave on their invitation. Messages marked as private are shown only to the couple, not to other guests.
- 2.The couple decides which questions to ask. We process your answers only to provide the service to them.
- 3.Your replies and messages are deleted when the couple deletes the invitation or their account.
- 4.If the couple runs a gift drawing, you can choose to enter when you leave a guestbook note or RSVP. Entering is optional. If you enter, your name and phone number are shared with the couple only so they can contact you if you win; other guests see only winners’ names. Your phone number is deleted automatically 7 days after the wedding. One entry per phone number, and we do not send texts on the couple’s behalf.
- 5.To change or remove your reply or message, ask the couple, or email us at support@laportecard.com with the invitation link.
10. Children
La Porte is not directed at children under 16, and they may not create an account. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 16 without appropriate consent, we will delete it.
11. Security
We protect data with measures such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to personal data, access controls and logging, and by using reputable cloud providers. No system is completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe and will notify you and the authorities of a data breach where the law requires.
12. Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in and, with Google Analytics, to understand how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking sign-in cookies will stop you from using features that need an account.
13. Changes and contact
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with its effective date, and tell you by email or in the service about significant changes. Questions or requests: support@laportecard.com. See also our Terms of Service and Legal Notice.
